One Trombone Held a Note Through the Entire Salt Delay

A brief from the open end of the Morgantown bowl, where the music did not get the memo.

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — When the replay cart went to a salt shed and the stadium noise fell into that particular Saturday hush, a single trombone in the visiting band kept a note that had started as part of a longer figure.

The section sat. He did not. The note lasted the review. It was not good. It was committed.

A band director was seen making the cut-off gesture used for trains and children. The trombone stopped when the referee announced third down. No one asked the player his name. Adjacent is not going to invent one.

This is the heartfelt portion of the edition. It will not happen again until the next delay.
